douglas found that Woking class parents tend to value education less and as a result are less ambitious for their child and take less interest in school ,these parents were less likely to visit schools and discuss progress with teachers
Douglas also found that parents own education was an important factor ,middle class parents tend to be better educated which leads to more discipline and higher expectations of their children ,they are more aware of what is needed to assist educational progress and are more able to give advice
