organ- must be composed of 2 or more types of tissue
(ex. stomach)
tissue- composed of group of cells with common shape and function
4 primary tissues:
epithelial tissue - used to cover/lining
connective tissue - support
muscle tissue - movement
nervous tissue - control
cells- are made from/up of molecules, basic functional unit of your body.
it can survive
cells can sustain their own existence if adequate nutrients are given.
2 ways to approach anatomy:
systematic
regional
systematic anatomy- examine the organ system
regional anatomy - examine the region and organs within the regions
enumerate the 11 organ systems:
integumentary
skeletal
muscular
nervous
endocrine
cardiovascular
lymphatic
respiratory
digestive
urinary
reproductive
integumentary- skin, hair, nails, mucous membranes that protects againstt infection and dehydration and regulates body temperature
integumentary system: primary - skin protection against infection and dehydration , regulates body temperature
secondary- produces vitamin D
organs of Skeletal System:
joints- sights where bones meet and connect
ligaments- connects bone to bone
support and protection- provides leverage for movement
muscle + skeleton= musculoskeletal system
hematopoiesis- process of making blood cells by bone marrow- found inside the bones
muscular system- produces heat when muscles contract 9 exercise-heat)
nervous system parts:
brain
spinal cors
nerves
nervous system- controls and provides for sensation, movement automatic system, higher mental function via nerve impulses
endocrine system- is like the mail system of our body
