The lithosphere is the solid, outerpartofEarth. The lithosphere includes the brittle upper portion of the mantle and the crust, the outermost layers of Earth's structure. It is bounded by the atmosphere above and the asthenosphere (another part of the upper mantle) below.
2 plates are called tectonicplates and plateboundaries
Tectonic plates is massive slab of solid rock made up of Earth's lithosphere (crust and upper mantle). Also called lithospheric plate. (Kulay sa mga plates)
Plateboundaries is edges that separate the tectonic plates with one another (line sa map)
The 2 type of of lithosphere is Continental Lithosphere and OceanicLithosphere
Continental relative age is older while Oceanic is younger
Continental relative thickness is thicker than Oceanic, Oceanic is thin
Continental relative desity is lessdense while Oceanic is denser
Continental type of rock is granite. Oceanic type of rock is basalt
Primaryplates are called Primary because the are larger than the secondary plates
The earth has 7 primary plates
Secondary plates have 8
Primary:
Pacific plate
North American plate
Eurasia plate
African plate
Antarctic plate
Australian plate
South American plate
Secondary plates:
Juan de fuca plate
Nazca plate
Cocos plate
Caribbean plates
Philliphine plate
Arabian plate
Indian plate
Scotian plate
Geologic events and features such as earthquakes, activevolcanoes and majormountainranges are distributed near or along plate boundaries.
