SCIENCE TECTONIC PLATES

• there is tremendous heat and pressure and this drives slow circular called convection currents within the mantle layer
• Different tectonic plates meet each other at their boundaries which are known PLATE MARGINS
• There are 3 types of plate margins:

  1. Constructive (divergent)
  2. Destructive (convergent)
  3. Conservative (transform)
• Constructive (divergent) two plates MOVE AWAY from each other
• This movement forms a gap between plates which allows to magma to see through and cool for new geological features such a volcanoes (CONSTRUCTIVE)(DIVERGENT)
• The mid Atlantic ridge under the Atlantic ocean is an example of divergent
• Destructive (convergent) two plates MOVE TOWARDS FROM EACH OTHER
