Introduction to earth science

• Earth science is a feild of study concerned with the planet earth or one or more of its parts
• The three principal component disciplines of earth science is atmospheric science and its branches, Hydrologic science and its branches and geologic science and its branches
• Atmospheric science and its branches: Aeronomy, Climatology and meteorology
• Aeronomy is the study of the atmospheric regions above the lower stratosphere. It deals with the phenomena such as airglows, auroras and photochemical process
• Climatology has something to do with the long term weather conditions on a global scale
• Meteorology is primarily concerned with the short term weather conditions in the atmosphere
• Weather forecasting is accurate predictions of the future weather conditions
• Weather modification is to modify the weather such as suppressing the hail and fog and weaken hurricanes
