Pronouns in prepositional phrases

  • A preposition can be followed by pronouns that are the replacements for nouns.
    E.g., John came with his friends --> John came with them.
  • The noun of a prepositional phrase describing a location or time tend to be replaced by there or then.

    e.g., She spent a lot of time in the city --> She spent a lot of time there.
  • Response to questions!

    A prepositional phrase can stand alone if the meaning of the rest of the sentence is understood.
    e.g., Where did you attend college? In California.
  • A few prepositional phrases can stand alone, if they are part of an imperative or an interjection.

    e.g., On your feet!
  • The preposition than can be used as a conjunction to join two
    clauses.

    e.g., My brother words harder than I like to work.
