Jane Harrison in her 2007 play “Rainbow’sEnd”explores the darkside of Britishcolonialism in Australia during the 1950s.
It presents to the audience three Aboriginalwomen living in the world dominated by white people and experiencingdailyracialbarriers.
Throughout the play, Harrison argues the struggles of Indigenous people who live under the control of welfare policies and inequality from white people.
Harrison further illustrates the Aboriginal people getting stereotypes and prejudices from the whites, especially Dolly’s personalambitions and the generationalshift in hopes.
The characters of “Rainbow’s End” each represent a differentresponse to the pressures of British colonisation with the sameaim of finding an equalpossibility in achieving their dreams and aspirations.
