External Factors

Cards (8)

  • External factors: socialisation, material deprivation/cultural deprivation (norms and values), parents attitude, language, job market, education policies.
  • Socialisation - norms and values taught at home, most likely by parents
  • Material deprivation - lack of money so might not be able to afford all the resources, houses could be overcrowded
  • Cultural deprivation - parents haven't taught norms and values well or fully
  • Parents attitude - if the parent is positive about school the student/child will work hard in school and be part of a pro school subculture. If the parents have a negative look on school the child will not try in school and be a part of an anti-school subculture.
  • Language - foreign language and now people speak such as using elaborate language in school but it is different at home
  • Job market - males have lost lots of jobs so may not try as hard in schools. Females have more/better jobs so will try harder.
  • Education policies - government deciding on changes for the education system
