    • self actualisation is the process in which people reach their full potential
    • not everyone can manage to reach their full potential as there could b psychological barriers that may prevent this

    • rodgers believes that the self refers to how we percieve ourselves as a person
    • rodgers argues that we have two basic needs: a positive regard from other people and a some feeling of self worth

    • what is incongruence?
      occurs when there is a big gap between the two selves the person experiences and self actualisation isn't possible
    • what is congruence?
      when someone's self and ideal self are balanced
    • condition of worth developed client centred therapy
    • client centered therapy is done to reduce the ga between self-concept and ideal self
    • says that conditions of worth said that worthlessness and self-esteem have roots in childhood which can be explained by a lack of unconditional positive regard from parents
