• Agriculture is the growing of crops and rearing of animals, to provide materials that people can use or enjoy
• Farming is the part of agriculture involving cultivating land and rearing of livestock
• Arable farming is farming focusing on growing crops
• Pastoral farming is farming focusing of rearing of animals
• Commercial farming is farming that focuses on selling produce and gaining income
• Subsistence farming focuses on the farmer growing crops to feed family (associated by mainly LEDC)
• Extensive farming is farming on a poor land with livestock on the mountain
• Intensive farming is farming over good quality land with many capital input to maximise the output
• Nomadic farming is farming on different lands
• Sedentary farming is farming on the same land every year
• Farming system= farming input+ farming process+ farming output
• Farming input are the ingredients for system eg. machines, labour, land
• Farming process are the activities which take place in a farm eg. milking, harvesting
• Farming output are what comes out of the process eg. milk, tobacco,maize
• Advantages of farming: reduce level of carbon dioxide, food, create habitats for wildlife etc
• Disadvantages of farming: soil erosion, water pollution, climate change and deforestation
