• a predator is a carnivore that kills and eats other animals
• animals obtain their food by ingestion
• organisms at the beggining of the food chain are usually high in numbers, whilst the end of the chain has stronger and lower number of organisms
• plants produce food from photosynthesis with the use of sunlight and thus are called producers
