  • The female reproductive organs include two ovaries(singular: ovary, one uterus
  • The ovaries produce the female sex or egg cells.
  • An egg cell is called an ovum (plural : ova)
  • The uterus is a pear shaped muscular structure where the baby develops and grows during pregnancy.
  • The endometrium layer(uterus wall) is made of spongy tissue that lines the Inner wall of the uterus. The vagina has muscular walls that stretch during childbirth.
  • During puberty, a girl will begin menstruation(periods).
  • Menstruation is when blood and tissue of the lining of the uterus is lost from the women's body and comes out through her vagina. The bleeding process may last about four or five days.
  • Every 28 days an eggs is released and begins to travel down the fallopian tube.  Then the egg travels through the fallopian into the uterus. After seven days if the egg is not fertilized menstruation(a period) begins
  • A females menstrual cycle ends when she is about 45 - 50years old.
  • But remember all women are different. The duration of the period is different per woman, the amount of blood and tissue released is different and the number of days for the menstrual cycle can change and is different
