• North Portland: where Jade lives. It is filled with families living at or below the poverty level. Many outside the neighborhood see it only as a dangerous place to be avoided. Jade has many friends here because she and her family have lived here so long. There are few specific descriptions of places in this neighborhood, but there are a few general descriptions. Jade's house is small and serves as a sharp contrast to Maxine's apartment and Sam's house.
• St Francis High School: is the school that Jade attends on a scholarship, and it is filled with students who are from wealthy families. Jade describes only a few aspects of the school, such as the hall where her locker is and how Sam decorates the locker for Jade's birthday.
• Jades house: small poor house in North Portland. It is in the villa or called the new Colombia.
• Sam's house: a poor house similar to Jades. Is in Northeast Portland which is a poorer white neighborhood. She lives with her Grandparents due to her mother abandoning her. House has a bunch of random junk due to her grandparents hording.
• Northeast portland: A poorer white neighborhood where sam lives.
