Diffracted waves

• Diffracted waves are when a wave encounters irregular surfaces causing the waves to change direction and be scattered.
• The bending of waves around small obstacles or the spreading out of waves beyond openings are diffracted waves
• An example is sound waves around a corner or through a barrier
• An example is light waves passing through a hole
