Capital Punishment

• Capital punishment- the legally authorised killing of someone for a serious crime they have committed
• Deterrence- discouraging a wider population to commit a crime based on the punishment they'll face
• Retribution- punishment inflicted on someone as vengeance for a wrong or criminal act
• Example: Angel Diaz who strangled and stabbed a man to death, then raped and sexually tortured the man's wife and 16 year old daughter in front of the three year old daughter
