The Language of Literacies

• Literacy -Is the ability to write, set of skills that includes the ability to read with comprehension and write simple messages, fundamental human right and is an instrument of empowerment
• Funtional Literacy -Can engage in all activities in which basic literacy is required for the effective functioning of the community and enable them to continue to use reading, writing, and calculation for their own and community's development.
• Civic Literacies -skills and competencies necessary to engage with communities and societies as citizens of a democracy
• Digital Age Literacies -Is an ensemble of the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the internet and ever-expanding world of digital technology
