(1910) Act of Union

• Excluded the right of Black Africans and Indians to vote (right of coloureds removed 1936)
• Deputations were sent in 1909 and 1919 to improve the status of non-whites to no avail
• Britain wanted Boers onside, an alliance of gold and maize, so didn't give Black people any power to appease Boers slightly
