  • Land divided among race, causing significant migration (non-whites removed from cities) and difficulties; illegal squatting began,1951 government banned this, stopping unauthorised entry to any land or building
  • Enforced white areas, successful in decreasing living conditions for black people but not particularly significant as it was very similar to previous years
  • Over 60% lived outside their areas by 1980 (task too big), caused so muchmisery; some committed suicide when they found they were to be moved
