what do viruses use to replicate themselves?
host cells
what do viruses use their attachment proteins to do?
To bind to
complementary receptor proteins
on the
surface
of
host cells
What do different viruses have?
different
attachment proteins
and therefore require different
receptor proteins
on
host cells
as a result, some
viruses
can only
infect
ONE
TYPE
of
cell
however some
viruses
can
infect
lots of different
cells
what do cells NOT undergo and why/?
they do not undergo
cell division
because they are
not alive
what do viruses do instead of cell division?
they
inject
their
DNA
or
RNA
into the
host cell-
this
hijacked cell
then uses its own
machinary
(eg
ribosomes
) to
replicate
the
viral particles
