Definitions

• Catalyst - chemical that speeds up the rate of reaction and remains unchanged & reusable at the end of the reaction
• Active Site - Area on the surface of an enzyme molecule with a shape complimentary to that of the substrate molecule
• Substrate - A molecule altered by an enzyme - catalysed reaction
• Activation Energy: Energy needed to start a reaction
