Error Checking

• What does even parity do to the number of 1s?

  Makes the sum of 1s even
• What does odd parity do to the number of 1s?

  Makes the sum of 1s odd
• What happens if the parity bit is incorrect?

  The computer requests the sender to re-transmit the data
• What is majority voting?

  Each bit of data is transmitted multiple times and the most common occuring value is used.
