    • b-lymphocytes: provides humeral immunity by producing antibodies
      1. when a phagocyte encounters the non-self antigens, it is taken into the cell by endocytosis
    • 2. the antigen is presented on the surface
    • 3. t-helper cells attach to the antigen and activate b-cells
    • 4. the b-cells divide by mitosis to form a clone, which then differentiates into plasma cells
    • 5. the plasma cells produce the antibody specific to the antigen-monoclonal antibodies
