• Gerund phrases:

  1. A phrase with a gerund like "eating"
  2. A gerund is a noun formed from a verb that ends with "ing"
• Elliptical clause: A clause with essential words missing
• misplaced modifier: occurs when a modifier describes a word or phrase in a sentence but is not next to what it describes
