  • An emergency/ first aid kit is very essential in times of disaster. Water, flashlight and hygiene kits. Where families should be prepared to be independent to survive 3 days or 72 hours.
  • These kits must be organized and easy to access. It should be checked every 6 months to make sure the items are still in good condition and far from expirations.
  • Shelter - tents, sleeping bag, tarp
    • Water a person can survive 5 days without food as long as there’s water. 1 gallon (4 liters) - 1 liter for drinking, and 3 liters for sanitation.  (Philippines Red Cross). Must be changed to maintain effectiveness and avoid contamination.
  • Food - store non-perishable food. Food should be sufficient for 3 days (Philippine Red Cross) with eating and drinking utensils.
  •  Tools - maps with evacuation sites, emergency number to call, whistle, flashlight, list of emergency numbers, multi-purpose knife, blankets, sleeping bag.
    • Fire starting matches, lighter, candle.
  • Light and signaling instruments - flashlight, mirror, whistle.

  • First aid kits - adhesive bandage, first aid manual, pain reliever & antibiotics, anti-diarrhea medication, prescription.
  • Personal effects and hygiene kit - extra clothing, undergarments, toothbrush, soap, comb.
  • Others - important documents: birth certificate, passport, marriage contract, diploma, land titles. Keep this in a plastic envelope or waterproof container.
