PROBABILITY

Cards (10)

  • Experiment - an activity which could be repeated and has well-defined result. (rolling a die)
  • Outcome - the result of an experiment. (1,2,3,4)
  • Sample Space - set of all outcomes in an experiment. {1,2,3,4}
  • Event - subset of sample space
  • Probability - measure of likelihood that event will occur.
  • Simple Event - an event with only possible outcome. (getting a "5")
  • Compound Event - an event with more than one possible outcome.
  • Complement of an event - set of all outcomes that are not in the event. (not getting an old number)
  • Probability of Simple Event = number of ways the event occurs / number of possible outcomes
  • Probability of the complement of an event = 1 - P(A)
