  • Yi Peng or Sky Lantern Festival
    It refers to a special event in Thailand celebrated every full moon of the 2nd month of traditional Thai calendar called Lanna. The festival participants release a sky lantern and ask for a small prayer or wish
  • Loy/Loi Krathong or Water Lantern Festival
    It is celebrated every full moon of the 12th month of Thai calendar. It's a practice of paying respect to water spirits. "Loy/Loi" means floating while "Krathong" means a lotus shaped vessel that can float on water
  • Wayang Kulit
    Refers to the old tradition of storytelling in the world with the use of puppet materials and musical background that makes the show more interesting. It is popular traditional Indonesian theater known around the world. Wayang means "shadow" while kulit means "skin". It is usually performed in royal court and spread out in public during religious occasions

    The person who controls the puppet or the puppeteer and chief performer who tells the story of the performance
  • Wayang Kulit elements
    • Kelir - White stretched linen canvas that separates the dalang from the audience
    • Blencong - Coconut lamp that creates shadow from the puppet, nowadays replaced by electric lights
    • Debog - Stage where the puppets are stuck to hold them in place, usually made of the trunk of banana plant
    • Kotak - Puppet chest, can be played by the dalang as a drum by hitting it with a wood mallet
    • Keryak - Metal plate played with the dalang's foot to give to the gamelan orchestra
    • Gamelan orchestra - One of the most important part of the play or the performance, composed of mostly bronze instruments that sets the mood and the theme of the performance
