• The senses do deceive us - chimes with our experience of reality
• Descartes successfully points out that melted wax and hard wax looks like different substances
• The pain that we experience through our senses when we hold our hand in fire is useful, as it tells us the action is harmful.
• To experience rationalistic knowledge i.e. maths equations in our head, we have to use our senses to learn it - our eyes and ears.
