Series Circuit

Cards (12)

  • Resistors may be connected in series, in parallel, or a combination of both series and parallel.
  • Electric Circuit - the path on which an electric current flows.
  • 2 types of circuit:
    • series
    • parallel
  • Series circuit - Contains more than one electrical component connected one after the other in a single path.
  • Series Circuit - Current flows in a single path and is the same in all circuit parts.
  • What happens if the circuit is broken at any point? - No current will flow
  • Current - There is only one path where current can flow and the same in all parts.
  • Series current formula:
    š‘°š‘» = š‘°šŸ = š‘°šŸ = š‘°šŸ‘ ...
  • Voltage - The sum of the potential difference across individual components is equal to the potential difference across the entire circuit
  • Series voltage formula:
    š‘½š‘» = š‘½šŸ + š‘½šŸ + š‘½šŸ‘ ...
  • Resistor - As more resistors are added in series, the equivalent resistance increases.
  • Series resistor formula:
    š‘¹š‘» = š‘¹šŸ + š‘¹šŸ + š‘¹šŸ‘ ...
