Resistors
may be connected in series, in parallel, or a combination of both series and parallel.
Electric Circuit
- the path on which an electric current flows.
2 types of circuit:
series
parallel
Series circuit
- Contains more than one electrical component connected one after the other in a single path.
Series Circuit -
Current
flows in a single path and is the
same
in all circuit parts.
What happens if the circuit is broken at any point? -
No current
will flow
Current
- There is only one path where current can flow and the same in all parts.
Series current formula:
𝑰𝑻 = 𝑰𝟏 = 𝑰𝟐 = 𝑰𝟑 ...
Voltage
- The sum of the potential difference across individual components is equal to the potential difference across the entire circuit
Series voltage formula:
𝑽𝑻 = 𝑽𝟏 + 𝑽𝟐 + 𝑽𝟑 ...
Resistor
- As more resistors are added in series, the equivalent resistance
increases.
Series resistor formula:
𝑹𝑻 = 𝑹𝟏 + 𝑹𝟐 + 𝑹𝟑 ...
