Securing the Succession

• 1534- Succession Act


  Declared Mary (Henry and Catherine's Daughter) illegitimate, stated that an heir would rest with Annes children
• 1536- Succession Act


  Followed Annes execution, declared Elizabeth (Henry and Anne's daughter) illegitimate, stated that in the absence of an legitimate heir the king could determine the succession by will, allows Henry to legitimise his illegitimate son Richard (Richard dies in 1536)
• 1544 Succession Act


  Legitimised Mary & Elizabeth, affirmed Henrys right to determine the succession by will
• December 1546, Henry's Will


  confirmed the succession, stated that if Henry's children die with kids; Henry's sisters children will succeed, set up the regency council to act on Edwards behalf
