Neutral tones
'Few leaves lay on the starving sod' - sibilance- the relationship is dying - there foundation is dead - nothing can grow
'the smile on your mouth was the deadest thing'
'Alive enough to have strength to die' - Juxtaposition - irony surrounding their relationship only enough energy left to end it
'Wrings with wrong' - alliteration - encounter wit wrong - relationship bound to end
'Love deceives' - betrayal / fake love - masked true nature of each other and only now have they realised their bad parts
