  • Pulmonary Circulation: pathway of blood from heart to lungs and back.
  • Cardiac Circulation: circulation within the heart
  • Systemic Circulation: path of blood from heart to the rest of the body
  • Functions: the main functions of the circulatory system include transporting oxygen, carbon dioxide and nutrients. The system also maintains a constant body temp. Lastly, the system maintains fluids levels.
  • Atria: top 2 chambers of the heart, receive blood from the body or lungs
  • Ventricles: bottom 2 chambers, receive blood from atrium and pump out to lungs or body
  • Flow of blood: blood flows into the right atrium from the vena cava, the blood flows into the right ventricle and into the pulmonary arteries to the lungs. Then the blood runs through the pulmonary veins and into the left atrium, then the left ventricle, then to the aorta that pumps the blood to the rest of the body.
