• What is a sprain?

  Trauma to a joint that causes a ligament to partially or completely tear.

  A microscopic tear to musculotendinous unit.

  Distal forearm.
• What is a compound fracture?

  A compound fracture is a type of bone fracture where the broken bone pierces through the skin.
• What is a complicated fracture?

  Bone fragments have damaged other organs or tissues.
• What is a buckle fracture?

  Raised or bulging projection at fracture site.
• What is a plastic deformation?

  When the bone is bent but not broken.
• Where is the weakest point of the long bones?

  Growth plate or physis.
• What are the 6 P's for fracture assessment?

  Pain, Pallor, Paresthesia, Paralysis, Pulselessness, and Pressure points.
• What care should be done for a cast?

  Elevate cast on the first day, observe extremities for swelling and discoloration, check movement and sensation, do not allow anything put inside cast, cool hair dryer can help with itching.
