  • In 2020, Kevin Rudd presented the largest ever e-petition ever presented to the Commonwealth parliament on media diversity. 
  • The petition expressed concern over mass sackings of journalists, newspaper takeovers and the undermining of regional and local news, the ABC’s independence and whistleblower protection. 
  • Whilst Rudd’s call to action was for a royal commission into media diversity, he instead got a Senate inquiry.
