After receiving 38 submissions from the members of community (homeowners, arborists), the VLRC made 63 recommendations for law reform regarding disputes such as branches hanging over fences or trees increasing bushfire risks.
One of the most important recommendations was that the Vic parlt should introduce a new Neighbour Tree Dispute Act, to be managed by VCAT, outlining when neighbours can take their dispute to VCAT
This was tabled in parliament, but no changes to law have been made.
