• to eliminate discrimination in the workplace

• draw up codes of practice
• give the public information about the WRC progress
• mediation - can investigate a case of discrimination by appointing equality mediation officers who deal with the case in a conciliatory manner
• adjudication - if you do not reach an agreement through mediation you can request your case be brought to investigation by an adjudication officer
• services are accessible to all and are free of charge - complainants are not required to be formally represented
• decisions provide a strong foundation of case law to assist in the elimination of unlawful discrimination/power to direct practices shown to be discriminatory should cease
• decisions are made available to the widest possible audience to foster an awareness of what constitutes discrimination and to help prevent future discrimination
