Since the hostility of the Quraysh increased due to Abu Lahab being the chief, The prophet decided to try his luck with the people of Taif
In the Journey to Taif, his servant Zaid bin Harisa accompanied him.
The people of Taif were hostile to the prophet and when he tried to spread the message of Islam, they rediculed him and pelted him with stones.
The people of Taif hired a mob to chase the prophet out of the city. The prophet was badly wounded and his shoes were filled with blood.
When the prophet returned, Allah sent an Angel who could crush the people of Taif between 2 mountains if he wished, but the prophet said that he hoped that their offspring would accept Islam.
