Nanoparticles

• A nanometer (nm) is 1 billionth of a metre or 1 x 10^-⁹m
• Nanoparticles are 1nm to 100nm in size
• Their large surface area means that they will react very quickly. It also means that they make very good catalysts
• Nanoparticles also have very different properties to the same substance in larger sized particles.
