  • What is critical thinking?
    Critical thinking is a conscious evaluation of one's thought process and involves the ability to analyse facts, make comparisons, draw conclusions, evaluate arguments and solve problems. Critical thinking involves a certain level of emotional intelligence.

    Critical thinking is the process of thinking about one’s thinking – a conscious evaluation of one’s thoughts.
  • Why should we stop and think?
    1. Reflection and reasoning will calm any emotion that would make our communication less effective (eg anger or fear).
    2. A little consideration can often help us avoid incomplete or incorrect communication.
    3. Without logical thought, our ideas are often expressed in a somewhat muddled, imprecise way.
    4. Without forethought we may present information in unsuitable language.
    5. Unless we spend some time reasoning out a complex communication, the end product is rarely in the most logical order whether spoken or written.
