The Population Density of the UK

• Much of Northern Scotland is quite sparse in population due to it having lots of mountains.
• In the UK, the majority of the population live in the lowland, southern parts like London. This is due to easier transport and job opportunities.
• Northern Ireland has the lowest population density of the UK at around 35 people per km^2
• The South East of the UK has the highest population density with over 400 people per km^2
• London's population grew by 9% between 2008-2017
• London has the highest population density in the UK with over 5000 people per km^2
• Birth rate = number of babies born / total female population * 1000
• Scotland had its largest ever increase in population in 2017
