Respiration

• Respiration is the process of transferring energy from the break down of glucose
• Respiration happens in every cell in the body
• Uses of respiration:

  • To build up larger molecules from smaller ones, e.g. proteins from amino acids
  • In animals it allows muscles to contract, for movement
  • In mammals like birds its used to maintain body temperature
