Development is influenced by a wide range of environmental factors: parents, siblings, teachers, community, wider society and culture in which an individual lives
his theory is often presented as a diagram
microsystem- the most influential level- direct contact and influence on the individual/ immediate family and home environment
meosystem- the different relationships between the elements of the mictosystem
exosystem- one step beyond the meo system but would have an immediate impact on the child e.g. the parents workplace/ media influence
macrosystem- economic and cultural environment surrounding the exosystem
chronosystem- the history surrounding environments and traditions
practitioners must recognise they are apart of the childs microsystem
Act as a positive role model
develop positive relationships within the microsystem
