    Maintain serum calcium level with vitamin D.

    Increases absorption of calcium in GI tract but excretion of phosphate by kidneys.

    Muscle cramps (EARLY), dry and scaly skin with eruptions, brittle hair and thin nails with transverse grooves, tetany, paresthesias, seizures, low plasma PTH.
  • Hypoparathyroidism is associated with poor growth in children.

    Calcium.

    • 8 hour fasting glucose of 126
    • Random BG of 200 or more
    • Oral glucose of 200 or more in a 2 hour sample
