What are the defining principles of the developmental area?
-Change and development is process constantly changing throughout ur lifetimes
-Behaviour must be learnt (nurture) or may be innate (nature) from inherited factors
-Early experiences effect our later development
-Development may change in pre determined stages
What are the strengths of the developmental area?
-Gives improved understanding of people at different age and stages
-Tells us how we can positively effect children’s behaviour
-Observational learning from Bandura has been proven to effect behaviour so age restrictions on games, films, tv introduced
-The effect of reinforcement on children’s medical adherence has helped us to understand how to encourage children medically.
What are the weaknesses of the developmental area?
-Is hard to measure some aspects of development like thoughts
-Ethical issues as experimenting younger groups of people
-Difficult to design experiments and materials suitable for children
Developmental core studies
Bandura- Social learning theory= behaviour learnt (nature) as children learned behaviour through observation, behaviour is innate (nature) as boys produced the higher levels of aggression
Chaney- Medical adherence= effected by reinforcement- early experiences effect later development with how reinforcement effected their development of adherence with medicine, behaviour is learnt (nature)
