  • What are the defining principles of the developmental area?
    -Change and development is process constantly changing throughout ur lifetimes
    -Behaviour must be learnt (nurture) or may be innate (nature) from inherited factors
    -Early experiences effect our later development
    -Development may change in pre determined stages
  • What are the strengths of the developmental area?
    -Gives improved understanding of people at different age and stages
    -Tells us how we can positively effect children’s behaviour
    -Observational learning from Bandura has been proven to effect behaviour so age restrictions on games, films, tv introduced
    -The effect of reinforcement on children’s medical adherence has helped us to understand how to encourage children medically.
  • What are the weaknesses of the developmental area?
    -Is hard to measure some aspects of development like thoughts
    -Ethical issues as experimenting younger groups of people
    -Difficult to design experiments and materials suitable for children
  • Developmental core studies
    Bandura- Social learning theory= behaviour learnt (nature) as children learned behaviour through observation, behaviour is innate (nature) as boys produced the higher levels of aggression
    Chaney- Medical adherence= effected by reinforcement- early experiences effect later development with how reinforcement effected their development of adherence with medicine, behaviour is learnt (nature)
