Sensory Neurone

    Cards (3)

    • Transmit impulses from receptors in sense organs to relay or motor neurones in CNS; same basic structure as motor, but long dendron and short axon either cell body side contains nucleus, cytoplasm and organelles
    • Dendrites are located in sense organ as receptors; transmit impulse towards cell body, but as it’s located away from dendrites, one longer cytoplasmic process transmits impulse (dendron)
    • Axon transmits impulse away from cell body, towards CNS; synaptic knobs at terminal branch ends have many mitochondria and neurotransmitter vesicles (help transmit to other neurones)
