  • Hume - 'god does not exist' is not a contradiction.
  • Hume: Ontological reasons from gods definition that god exists using analytic truth. A denial of analytic truth leads to contradiction "a triangle with 4 sides"; cannot be coherently conceived (imagined).
  • anselm/plantinga would say that 'god does not exist' is a contradiction as he is necessary. BUT (hume) the idea of gods non existance can be coherantly concived (evolution) - this can link to malcolm
  • An argument: gods existence must be necessary definitionally. if there was criteria that gods existence had to meet (eg being omnibenevolent/necessary), he would not be MGB as the critera are greater than him/control his existance. He would not be a mgb.
  • Lane Craigs form: infinite number of worlds; a MGB god must exist in one of them; would be better to be in all; so MGB god exists in our world.
