Shoots are negatively geotropic and grow away from gravity
Roots are positively geotropic and grow towards gravity
Auxins are produced in the tip of the stem and the roots
In roots and stems auxins are attracted to gravity and sink to the lower region
Auxins in roots INHIBIT cell elongation therefore the cells DO NOT elongate on the underside of the root
In the stem the auxins stimulate cell elongation causing the stem to bend upwards.
