Rene
Decartes
was a
french
mathematician and
philosopher.
Descartes believed that the
Ontological
Argument was proof of
God’s existence.
As a
mathematician
Descartes was used to working with
deductive arguments
because all mathematical sums are
deductive arguments.
Like
Anselm
,
Descartes
believed it was possible to know
God’s essence.
Descartes’ Argument
God
is a supremely
perfect
being.
Existence
is a
perfection
(existence must be one of the
predicates
of a perfect being)
Therefore
God
has
existence
as a
perfection
which means he
exists.
