  • Sin
Has three different dimensions: spiral, sickness, and addiction
  • Sin as spiral
    • Infects and pollutes our thinking and feeling, making us slaves of bad habits and negative attitude
  • Sin as sickness
    • Weakens our will to overcome it and temptation, can further complicate our sinful ways and lead us to more sins
  • Sin as addiction
    • Can make us powerless as it progressively becomes compulsive and obsessive, e.g. consumerism where the person finds pleasure in buying and not in fulfilling needs, may want to stop but fail to control the desire
  • Sin as spiral
Can lead others to sin through bad example
  • Sin as sickness
Affects how a person regards and relates to God, people, and things
  • Sin as addiction
The person continues their commission due to false experience and empty promise of happiness
  • Social sin
Sin committed not only by an individual but also by a group of persons, shows how sin can negatively influence other people, attack human rights and basic human freedom, disregard the common good, damage relationships, and grow into a sinful structure, such as racial discrimination and economic systems of exploitation
