Lucas et al asked students to answer maths problems and found that there was greater conformity to incorrect answers when questions were more difficult - shows that people conform when they don't know the answer

People who are less concerned about being liked (nAffiliators) are less affected by NSI
McGhee and Teevan concluded that students with high affiliation are likely to conform - the desire to be liked underlines conformity for some people more than others
