  • The endocrine system also adapts to aerobic and resistance training
  • Adrenaline and Noradrenaline:
    • The gland that secretes adrenaline and noradrenaline has an increased capacity to secrete these hormones
    • This results in increased reaction from the organs targeted by these hormones to enable the body to be ready for exercise and sports participation at a faster rate
  • Cortisol:
    • Endurance exercise has the effect of lowering the release of cortisol in the body which helps to reduce the levels of stress a person may be suffering from
    • However, resistance training will actually increase resting levels of cortisol levels in the body
  • Testosterone:
    • Resistance training results in higher resting levels of testosterone and human growth hormone (HGH) which both help to increase protein synthesis for muscle hypertrophy
